Inkumaku is a compact hardcover of Japanese tattoo drawings and sketches by Salvio. Over 159 pages it works through most of the subjects that appear in Japanese tattooing: dragons, koi, oni, geishas, ghosts, yokai, skulls, samurai, and flowers such as chrysanthemums.

The pages are line drawings and working sketches, so you can follow how Salvio builds each subject, from the posture of a frog to the shell of a heikegani crab or the expression of a hannya mask. It shows how well he knows the tradition and its imagery.

As a Japanese tattoo book it suits tattooers who want reliable reference for classic subjects, and its small 8.5" x 6" format is easy to keep close while drawing. Collectors of Japanese-style work will enjoy it too, whether or not they draw.
