CONTENTColor flash
This reprint gathers Don Ed Hardy's collection of full-color, hand-painted flash into a single large-format book. It holds more than 300 classic American designs, including originals by Sailor Jerry Collins, the Honolulu tattooer who mentored Hardy and shaped much of modern American traditional tattooing.
The imagery is the core of the American traditional tattoo flash canon: cat heads, tiger, lion and panther heads, dragons, eagles, pin-ups, skulls, birds and butterflies, along with skulls carrying mottos like "Rats get fat while good men die" and "Live and die with style." Every design is in color, painted the way flash was meant to hang in a shop.
The 72-page, 11" x 16" softcover is built to be taken apart. It separates into 36 individual sheets for wall display, and each sheet has a description printed on the back. For tattooers it's a working wall of classic flash; for collectors it's a historic anthology from one of the most important figures in tattooing.
