Brooklyn Joe Lieber (1888-1953) was a mentor to Sailor Jerry Collins and one of the great early American tattooers. Born in Brooklyn, he built his career in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he and Collins traded hundreds of designs in a shared, nearly identical drawing and painting style. This Hardy Marks volume gathers Lieber's vivid, influential flash and drawings — work that stands equal in scope and quality to Sailor Jerry's own.
