Classic Flash in Five Bold Colors is the book that started Jeromey "Tilt" McCulloch's Classic Flash series. McCulloch, who owns NewLife Tattoos in Champaign, Illinois, spent years studying American traditional masters such as Paul Rogers, August "Cap" Coleman and Owen Jensen, then reworked the classic look using a strict palette of five colors: black, red, yellow, green and brown.
The result is more than 640 individual flash designs across 112 pages, including McCulloch's own sheets and pieces made with other tattooers. Eagles and babies, devils and panthers, dragons and moons and the rest of the traditional canon are all here, painted with the limited palette that keeps them bold and readable on skin.
As a traditional tattoo flash book it is ready to use straight off the page, and it doubles as a study in how much you can do with only five colors. Volumes 2 and 3 continue the series.
