CONTENTFlash & Photographs
Every tattooer knows the name Leonard "Stoney" St. Clair, yet very little of his flash had ever been published. That changed when Columbus tattooer Joey Knuckles acquired more than 30 years of Stoney's flash and personal effects. Stoney had a habit that makes this material unusually valuable: he wrote the date and location of each painting on the back, and noted when he went back to touch up or add to a sheet.
Volume 2 covers his Columbus, Ohio years, presenting a nearly complete picture of the hand-painted flash he made from 1970 to 1981. Expect goats, peace signs, panthers, butterflies, mushrooms, bugs, girls, dragons, reapers and wizards, the looser 1970s subject matter sitting next to classic eagles and chains, plus photographs such as a view of his work station.
A compact hardcover tattoo flash book for traditional tattooers and anyone studying how a working artist's flash changed over a career. Volume 1 covers his earlier Biloxi and Tampa years.
