CONTENTLine drawings and flash
Lines of Division gathers Tony Bluearms' first three volumes of line work into a single 298-page hardcover and adds a new fourth volume. It mixes clean outlines with painted flash, so you get both the bones of each design and a finished version to work from.
Bluearms is a Swedish-born tattooer based in Oslo, Norway, where he helped found the Blue Arms Tattoo collective in 2012. His work is rooted in early 1900s tattoo illustration and the shops and suppliers of that era, with influences such as Cap Coleman, Bob Wicks, Milton Zeis, Percy Waters and Amund Dietzel, reworked with his own touch. The designs are clean, bold and solidly built, with the kind of strong silhouettes that hold up over time.
For tattooers this is a dense book of traditional tattoo outlines that can go straight to stencil, and the compact 7 x 9 inch format makes it easy to keep at the station. Collectors who missed the earlier volumes now have the whole run in one binding.
