CONTENTBlack & White
Crap Hound is Sean Tejaratchi's clip-art zine, started in Portland, Oregon in 1994. Each issue is packed with high-contrast black and white images taken from vintage catalogs, advertising, obscure books and found ephemera, grouped by theme and laced with Tejaratchi's satirical commentary.
Issue 4, Clowns, Devils & Bait, first came out in 1996. This is the third version of the issue, with 20 pages of new material added. Inside are clowns and clown dolls, devils and devil heads, and a run of fishing lures and bait illustrations that turn out to be surprisingly graphic.
Devils and clowns are tattoo standards, and this issue gives tattooers a wide spread of vintage faces, poses and expressions to draw from. Collage artists value it for clean, reproducible images, and it remains one of the best-loved issues in the Crap Hound series.
