Crap Hound 15: Additions 2023 is the latest round of additions to Sean Tejaratchi's clip-art zine, expanding on themes from earlier issues with new finds. As always, every page is built from high-contrast black and white imagery sourced from old catalogs, advertisements, obscure publications and found ephemera.
The 112 pages are heavy on moons, stars and skulls, with knives, reapers and scissors, crystal balls, zodiac wheels and fortune tellers, witches and fans, plus callbacks to hands, hearts, anatomy, books and bees. Much of it sits squarely in tattoo territory, especially for anyone who draws occult or old-time carnival imagery.
Tattooers use Crap Hound as clip-art reference because the art is already clean line and solid black, which makes adapting it to flash or stencils straightforward. Collage artists, printmakers and designers will find just as much to work with.
