Crap Hound 14: Collected Extras & Black Cats is a mini-issue of Sean Tejaratchi's long-running clip-art zine. Like every Crap Hound, it is built from high-contrast black and white images sourced from vintage catalogs, advertising, obscure books and found ephemera, arranged into dense themed pages.
This one gathers extras alongside a big run of black cats and cat eyes, plus skulls and skeletons, executioners and gallows, vintage clowns, churches and praying hands. The mix makes it one of the more varied issues, and much of the imagery sits naturally next to traditional tattoo subjects.
Tattooers use Crap Hound as reference because the art already works in solid black line and fill, which translates well to stencils and flash. Collage artists, printmakers and designers get the same benefit: clean, ready-to-use vintage source material collected around a theme in a 100-page softcover.
