Ichibay - Lines & Drawings is a two-book set devoted to the classic subjects of Japanese traditional tattooing: flowers, warriors, dragons, animals, and figures such as geishas, demons, ghosts, Fujin and Raijin. Together the books run to 414 pages.
The large hardcover (303 pages) gathers Ichibay's paintings, line drawings, sketches and photographs, showing how he develops a subject from rough idea to finished piece. The smaller softcover (111 pages) is pure linework and sketches - the kind of book you keep at the drawing table. Studies of dragon bodies, foo dogs, phoenixes, tigers, snakes, skulls, toads and peonies show how he handles movement and flow.
This Japanese tattoo book set suits tattoo artists working in Japanese styles who want dependable line reference, as well as collectors of Ichibay's work who want both his finished art and his process in one purchase.
