Italian Tattoo Flash: The Best of Times Collection gathers color flash from Best of Times Tattoo in Milan, the shop owned by Stizzo. Along with Stizzo, the book features work by Max Brain and Silvio Pellico, three artists rooted in tradition who still push their own drawing as far as it will go.
The 112-page hardcover is full of finished, painted designs: sunken ships wrapped in banners and rope, hearts and daggers, Mother Mary, crosses and lambs, eagles, crows on skulls and memento mori pieces. A few photos show the artists at work, giving a sense of the shop behind the sheets.
For anyone working in traditional tattoo flash, this is a fresh European take on familiar subjects, with strong composition and color choices worth studying. It is a solid addition to a shop reference library and a good pick for collectors who follow the Italian traditional scene.
